One day in Prague

Share

I just have one free weekend between my Warsaw and Singapore trip for work and it took me some time before I decided where I want to spend it. I was sure it had to be in Europe given that it’s my first time in the continent. My choices for a day trip were: Amsterdam, Berlin and Prague, among many others, but after asking a few friends what they thought, it was unanimous and they screamed only one place – so I booked my tickets to Prague.

It’s my first time to go on a trip by myself! A bit afraid of the language barrier and getting lost but I knew that with a little preparation (and help from my favorite rome2rio.com and google maps), everything will go well. Sharing with you my realistic one day itinerary (stripped down my itinerary twice to what my physical body can take) in case you want to squeeze in a day in this magical city from your eurotrip, but I must say, you if you can spend more than one day you should! Thought I was walking into a scene from Harry Potter or a classic fairytale.

Where to start: Vysehrad Fortress. One of Prague’s oldest places and it gives you a stunning view of the famous red praha roofs. Not part of the usual tourist radar so you will have a quiet and peaceful walk if you head over here in the morning. The fortress includes the  Slavin Cemetery and Vyserhad Cathedral.

After the fortress, I took the subway to the heart of the city near the old town. My heart skipped a beat the moment I stepped out of the station. The architecture was amazing. I wasn’t expecting it to be beautiful already given that I wasn’t in Old Town yet. every. corner. was. beautiful.

I highly suggest you grab lunch over at Cafe Savoy for your la Belle Époque vibe. The food was also worth the money.

Just around the corner is Cafe Lounge, which based on my research is a good place for coffee. Make sure you make reservations!

I stayed over at Intercontinental which was strategically located next to Old Town Prague. I rested a bit before heading back to Charles Bridge to get my night view of Prague Caste.
